What hundreds of my students told me they struggle with most, and why the usual advice keeps failing them
I hear the same thing from my students over and over, and honestly, it breaks my heart a little every time.
"How do I get more clients?"
"How do I find my people?"
"I want to do this work, but I'm scared to actually charge for it."
"I don't feel ready. I don't feel good enough yet."
I have heard some version of this from hundreds and hundreds of practitioners now. When I actually surveyed my students, more than twelve hundred of them, these were the concerns that rose to the top. Not which oil to use for a headache. Not a technique. This. The quiet, tender, "am I really ready for this" stuff.

And believe it or not, this is the whole reason I do what I do. Not because I love essential oils and acupoints (I do), but because I cannot stand watching gifted practitioners stay small and scared when they have so much to offer. So let me tell you what I have learned about this, because I think almost everyone has the problem diagnosed wrong. Including, for a long time, me.
What they say out loud
When I ask my students what they struggle with most, the answer that comes up more than any other is clients.
In their own words:
"How to get more clients."
"Building and retaining a steady clientele.
"Finding people who want, and can afford, my services."
"Finding my people."
This is the pain they can name. It is concrete, it is external, and it is the socially acceptable thing to say out loud. Nobody feels embarrassed admitting they want more clients. It sounds like a marketing problem, a numbers problem, a "if I just figured out Instagram" problem
So that is where most people go looking for the fix. More posting, more hashtags, more freebies, more hustle.
But that is not actually where the problem lives.
What they whisper
Because underneath almost every "I can't find clients," when I listen closely, there is something quieter. Something people do not type into a survey box quite as easily.
Again, their words, not mine:
"How to overcome imposter syndrome, never feeling ready or good enough."
"Believing in myself and my skills."
"Confidence to put myself out there."
"Getting past my fear of moving forward."
"To feel confident when making recommendations."
"Finding people to connect with. I am a very introverted and shy person."
Read those again. While it is important, that is not a marketing problem. That is a person standing at the edge of their own gift, afraid to step forward.
And here is what surprised me: so many of you said this part out loud. Named the confidence piece directly, right there in the survey, even though it is the vulnerable thing to admit. We will say "I can't find clients" all day long. It takes more to say "I don't feel good enough yet." So if this many of you were willing to name it, I promise you it is even more common than it looks. You are in very good company.
They are the same problem
Here is what took me years to see clearly.
The client problem and the confidence problem are not two separate things. They are one thing, feeding itself, wearing two different masks.
It goes like this. You do not feel quite ready, so you hold back. You post carefully, you undercharge, you hedge, you wait until you feel more qualified. Which means people cannot really see you or feel your conviction. Which means they do not book. Which means the quiet voice gets to say, see, I told you, you're not good enough. And you pull back a little further.
Low confidence keeps you invisible. Invisible means no clients. No clients confirms the low confidence. Around and around.

So when someone tells me they have a client problem, I usually think, gently, no, you have a loop. And you cannot market your way out of a loop. You have to break it.
Why "just be confident" never works
Now, here is the part that actually changed how I teach.
The standard advice for all of this is some version of "believe in yourself." Raise your prices. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Manifest the clients. Just be more confident.
And it does not work for these women. It has never worked for them. And for the longest time I could not figure out why, because the advice is not wrong, exactly.
Then I looked at how my own students describe confidence, and it really struck me. Listen to their own equations:
"Knowledge equals confidence."
"This will come with knowledge and practice."
They are telling us something the whole "just believe in yourself" genre completely misses. Confidence is not something you are simply born with or without. It is built, over time, through knowledge and practice. So that hollow, not-quite-ready feeling is not a sign something is wrong with you. It is just the honest space between where you are and where you are headed, and it closes as you learn. Nobody had yet handed these women a real framework, a system, a repeatable way of working that makes them genuinely good at something specific.
That is the piece the affirmations skip. You do not talk yourself into confidence and then get the skill. You build the skill, and the confidence grows right alongside it. It is not a character flaw to be mindset-hacked away. It is competence asking to be built.
What actually breaks the loop
So here is the reframe, and it is the whole point of this piece.
You do not fix the confidence to get the clients. And you do not chase the clients to feel confident. You build real, specific competence, and it breaks the loop from the inside.
When you actually know what you are doing, when you have a clear method and you have watched it get results on a real body in front of you, something shifts that no pep talk can touch. You stop hedging because you are not guessing anymore. You can make a recommendation and mean it. You can charge for your work because you know what it is worth. You become the practitioner people can feel the conviction coming off of, and that is the practitioner clients seek out.

Confidence stops being a thing you have to manufacture. It becomes a byproduct of practicing and being good at something. Knowledge and practice lead to confidence, just like your own words said.
This is why I do not stop at "believe in yourself," even though I absolutely want you to. I want you to believe in yourself and I want to hand you the thing that makes that belief unshakable. So I teach a method. A specific, learnable way of pairing essential oils with acupoints that most practitioners are not doing, so that you walk out knowing something real, with a skill that is yours, and results you can point to.
Believe in yourself, yes. And trust that you can learn, practice, and grow into the expert you were always meant to be. That is where real, lasting confidence comes from, not just the belief, but the belief backed by something solid under your hands.

If you see yourself in this
If you read those quotes and felt a little caught, seen in a way that may have stung a bit, I want you to hear this from me directly.
There is nothing wrong with you. You are not too shy, too late, too old, too new, or too anything to do this work. You are a capable practitioner standing in front of a gap between what you feel and what you know. That gap is closeable. It is, in fact, the most closeable thing in the world, because it is made of skill, and skill can be taught.
The fear was never the enemy. It was just pointing at the thing that needed building.
So build it. Get genuinely good at something specific. Let the confidence come the honest way, through your own two hands and the results you start to see. The clients follow from there. They always have.
That is the work. And it is exactly why I do what I do.
Where to start
If this stirred something in you, here is your honest first step.
The reason I built Essential Oil Energetics is to give you exactly this: the real knowledge that becomes real confidence. It is the foundation of my whole method, how essential oils and acupoints actually work together, and why. Not a pile of oil facts to memorize, but a way of understanding that makes you genuinely good at something specific, so you can make a recommendation and mean it.
It is where "knowledge equals confidence" stops being a nice quote and starts being true for you.
Your clients are looking for the practitioner who knows what they’re doing. Let's make that you.
